Video Three: III EATA International colloquium - Attachment and traumatic events: implications in the therapeutic relationship
Rome, June 30th 2009
Traumatic grief. Theoretical models and clinical guidelines for interventions.
MARIA LUISA DE LUCA
The traumatic and unresolved grief will be included in the new dsm-v as a new category. Its denomination will probably be “Complicated Grief”. In the last 15 years a great number of studies have been carried out to finally get to the creation of this new category. These studies enriched the conceptualization of the grieving process. In the theoretical part of this talk I’ll give an overview of the most recent and valuable models on grieving. I will highlight the main guidelines for the clinical intervention on traumatic and unresolved grief. Moreover, I will link these concepts to the “post-traumatic growth” which gives new light to the whole therapeutic process of trauma elaboration and grieving process.
